About the project

PANERIS aims to elevate the research and innovation (R&I) capacities in neuroscience within Widening Countries by focusing on the impact of obesity and addiction on brain health across the lifespan. This project seeks to address critical challenges in public health through a multidisciplinary approach, enhancing the understanding of these conditions and developing effective intervention strategies.

PANERIS will serve as a coordination and support platform, strengthening the internationalisation and competitiveness of neuroscience research in Lithuania, Poland, and Portugal. By partnering with a leading research institute in Spain, PANERIS will advance the participating countries’ R&I infrastructure, fostering collaboration and capacity building to achieve excellence in neuroscience research and innovation.

WP1 – Capacitation for internationalisation

This work package aims to enhance international collaboration and leadership in neuroscience research. It involves creating a joint internationalisation strategy, improving competitiveness in European and global funding applications, and refining human resources strategies. Additionally, the WP focuses on strengthening networking and visibility in global forums, promoting mobility, and expanding the consortium’s influence in international R&I networks.

WP2 – Capacitation of human resources focusing on ESRs

This work package focuses on promoting networking and knowledge exchange among early-stage researchers (ESRs) through short-term secondment missions (STSMs) and specialized Summer and Winter Schools. It aims to develop specific skills, enhance research progress, and improve the competitiveness of ESRs in international research. The work package also emphasizes collaboration across borders, fostering long-term impacts in alignment with European Research Area goals.

WP3 – Capacitation of R&I management

This work package focuses on strengthening research support units to enhance participation in Horizon Europe (HE) projects. It includes skill transfer through comprehensive training in project management, staff exchange visits for sharing best practices, and joint training on technology transfer. The work package aims to create personal networks, share industry contacts, and foster collaborations for future HE projects participation.

WP4 – Creating synergies

This work package aims to harmonize regional, national, and EU R&I policies in neuroscience by identifying synergies and reducing overlaps. It involves mapping R&I resources, developing best practices, and creating policy recommendations in collaboration with relevant authorities. Additionally, a pilot matchmaking study will be conducted to align funding opportunities with existing capacities, fostering enhanced cooperation and resource optimization in neuroscience research.

WP5 – Communication, dissemination and society engagement

This work package focuses on enhancing communication, dissemination, and exploitation (C&D&E) of PANERIS project outcomes. It involves developing a C&D&E strategy, creating online platforms and social media channels, organizing outreach events, and hosting conferences. Additionally, it seeks to build synergies with European R&I networks, promoting dialogue among authorities, engaging local companies, and disseminating research to the broader scientific community.

WP6 – Project Management

This work package focuses on ensuring the effective management and monitoring of the PANERIS project. It includes overseeing project activities, financial management, and communication within the consortium and with the Project Officer. The WP also involves developing quality control measures, managing project risks, and creating a comprehensive Data Management Plan to ensure data accessibility, interoperability, and reusability throughout the project.
