The IDIBAPS Winter School: Basics of Computational Neuroscience, hosted by IDIBAPS in Barcelona, provides a unique introduction to computational neuroscience. Over five days, participants will explore essential tools and resources, gain insight into European scientific infrastructures, and engage with experts in the field. The program combines lectures on key topics in computational neuroscience with interactive demonstrations and transversal skills training, fostering both academic exchange and professional development.
The program opens with interactive sessions on European research infrastructures, featuring contributions from EBRAINS on brain modelling, and from EATRIS on drug development, and patient engagement. These sessions will be complemented by live demonstrations showcasing practical applications and tools available to the research community.
A central highlight of the Winter School is the series of scientific sessions led by IDIBAPS groups specializing in computational neuroscience, covering topics such as brain activity patterns, neurobiology of neuronal circuits, and neuroimaging of several health conditions. The program will be further enriched by presentations from two key IDIBAPS core facilities: Magnetic Resonance and the Neurological Tissue Bank.
Transversal skills training forms another key pillar of the program. Participants will engage with a diverse range of topics such as science communication, and technology transfer. A dedicated session on science–policy synergies will further equip attendees to navigate the evolving landscape of European research policy.
Through this comprehensive learning experience, participants are expected to expand their knowledge, strengthen professional networks, and gain valuable insight into the future of computational neuroscience.
