Shedding Light on Neuroscience: Highlights from the Frontiers of Light Microscopy Satellite Event
The Frontiers of Light Microscopy satellite event, held as part of the annual Lithuanian Neuroscience Association Conference and the PANERIS project, provided a unique platform for scientific exchange.
“This gathering brought together researchers from Lithuania and abroad to explore cutting-edge advancements in light microscopy and their transformative potential for neuroscience,” said Prof Daiva Baltriukienė, leader of the PANERIS project Consortium.
Through discussions of innovative imaging techniques, participants delved into how these tools are reshaping our understanding of brain health and driving forward research on critical topics.
“Microscopy is not just about seeing – it’s about revealing the unseen. Events like this empower us to better understand the brain’s complexities and bring us closer to real-world solutions for critical health challenges,” remarked Prof Urtė Neniškytė, scientific program chair of the event.
Event Highlights: state-of-the-art imaging methodologies
“Super-resolution microscopy for mapping brain cell interactions, live-cell imaging techniques to study synaptic plasticity, multimodal approaches to track molecular changes related to obesity and addiction – these are just a few key topics experts shared at the event,” said Prof Baltriukienė.
A particularly engaging session focused on integrating microscopy with AI-powered analysis to process vast amounts of data generated in brain research. Such innovations promise to accelerate discoveries in neuroscience and foster a deeper understanding of how various factors influence brain health.
“This event showcased how imaging tools are not just instruments but gateways to new dimensions of neuroscience. By embracing these technologies, we can pave the way for more effective and targeted therapies,” remarked Prof Neniškytė.
PANERIS: A Vision for Neuroscience Excellence
PANERIS tackles health challenges through a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach. The project is building the capacity to address global public health challenges and empower Widening Countries to achieve excellence in neuroscience. Events like Frontiers of Light Microscopy will play a crucial role in fostering innovation, building networks and inspiring researchers to push boundaries. Together, the PANERIS team is shaping a brighter future for neuroscience.
